DarrasLaw Adopts 51 Special Needs Kids at Local School

The DarrasLaw staff has “adopted” 51 disabled and special needs children at AbilityFirst ASP in Claremont for the holidays. The 51 children and adults enrolled at AbilityFirst wrote “Letters to Santa” with their holiday wish list. On December 12, the DarrasLaw staff will host a holiday party at AbilityFirst to celebrate the season and deliver all of the toys.

“Each year, our firm is committed to giving back to the community in which we live and to a cause that is near and dear to our hearts. As in past years, the AbilityFirst program holds a special relationship to our firm. One of our staff’s sons is enrolled in the program and we all feel so grateful for the work AbilityFirst is doing in the life of her son and many others. This is an opportunity for us to give back as a staff and a family,” says Frank N. Darras, America’s top insurance lawyer.

AbilityFirst provides a safe and fun place for children with disabilities. They specialize in After School Care and have a Social Recreation program for children and adults. Participants range in age from 5-22. This past month, all 51 participants wrote “Letters to Santa” that listed items they wanted for the holidays. Without their knowledge, these letters were then delivered to the DarrasLaw staff.

“We’ve had elves at DarrasLaw busy at work fulfilling these kids’ wish lists, even going out on Black Friday to ensure that their wishes were fulfilled. We can’t wait to deliver the presents during the holiday party. There is nothing better than to see how a kid’s face lights up when they get the present they have been waiting and hoping for,” says Darras.

The party starts at 3:30pm at AbilityFirst in Claremont and will last about 2 hours. The event will also include a surprise visit from Santa.

“Our entire staff is excited to participate in this event. As a law firm that specializes in disability, these kids are especially important to us. We see the struggles they can face on a daily basis with wrongful denials and difficult and complex insurance issues. This is our chance to help ease that struggle and brighten their holiday season,” says Darras.
