Tip of the Day – Smart insurance choices –steps that translate into bigger discounts

Author: Frank N. Darras

Consider purchasing your homeowner, auto and umbrella insurance from the same carrier so that the multi-coverage discount will apply and be sure to tell your agent about smoke detectors, sprinkler systems, security systems and other safety features on your auto or home.

When receiving a quote, make sure it is for the replacement value of your home or vehicle, not the depreciated amount. Get multiple quotes and determine the limits you want on your property based on similar or same deductibles and coverage.

**Final note—make sure you buy your policies from companies with stellar claims paying records.
